The 57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2011 will be held on Jan 29, 2012 in Mumbai, it was announced here on Friday. The 2500th Black Lady will be given out on the occasion.

Actor Imran Khan lit a lamp at Metropolitan Hotel and Spa marking the beginning of another enchanting journey of felicitating Bollywood’s best. The actor, who has grown a beard for a forthcoming film, spoke of his emotional connection with the awards. “My relationship with Filmfare awards is both special and unique. It has added to my career and to who I am,” said the actor, who has hosted two Filmfare Awards shows with fellow actor Ranbir Kapoor.

The award ceremony had been previously hosted by the formidable star duo of Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan. Imran admitted that he felt scared taking over the mantle from the two top-notch performers. “We prepared and rehearsed for about four weeks. The writers chipped in with one-liners. What you saw in the end was the result of a lot of hard work,” he said.

He tipped Vidya Balan as one of the favourites for the best actress award for her role in The Dirty Picture. From a modest show in 1953 with four categories that lasted for less than a couple of hours, the Filmfare Awards has evolved into a glamorous event watched by millions on television. With its rich legacy, the Filmfare Black Lady remains the piece de resistance on every Bollywood actor, director and producer’s shelf.
