Microsoft launches new logo after 25 years

Microsoft will use a new logo for the first time in over two and a half decades. The software titan has created a new logo which has been heavily inspired by the emblem of Windows operating system. This change in the logo also shows the company's focus on the tile-centric Metro interface, which it uses in the Windows Phone platform, XBOX 360 and the upcomingWindows 8 and Office suite. 

On the Microsoft Blog on TechNet, Jeff Hansen, the general manager of brand strategy at the company, said that this step will ensure that a consistent user experience can be delivered across all platforms, from PCs and phones to tablets and television. 

Rather than the previous emblem, which only had the name of the company, this new logo has 'Microsoft' written in Segoe font on the right and square with four tiles, reminiscent of the Metro UI, on the left. 

The new Microsoft logo is already on the company website and in retail stores in Boston, Seattle and Bellevue. It will be seen heavily in advertisements as well as intra-organisation communications.

More mobile phones than people in South Korea

More than 60 percent of South Koreans now have smartphones despite their belated debut in the country, according to the latest industry figures.
 

Data from three mobile providers quoted by Yonhap news agency showed the number reached 30.03 million on Monday, out of a total of 52.55 million mobile phone users.

The tech-savvy nation has more mobile phones than people. The population hit 50 million in June.

South Koreans fell in love with smartphones relatively late compared to some other countries. Regulators approved Apple's iPhone only in September 2009 because of privacy concerns about some of its features.

Since then, the use of smartphones has been growing at a brisk pace, with free wireless networks and cutting-edge gadgets widely available.

South Korea is one of the world's most wired societies, with 95 percent of homes using broadband internet. It also has the world's top internet download speeds, according to a study by Pando Networks.

The movie first look was unveiled on yesterday on the eve of Megastar Chiranjjevi’s Birthday, because the movie title Yamudiki Mogudu is the Chiru’s 80’s blockbuster film with the same name.So, yesterday the filmmakers are announced the movie title officially and revealed the movie first look. 

 

Richa Panai is playing the female lead role in this film.Yesteryear actress Ramya Krishna is playing the role of Aunt to Naresh in this film.A popular song ’Atho Attama Kuturo’ from Chiru’s film ’Alluda Majaka’ is being remixed in this film. In original song Ramya Krishna also acted and now in this remix she is dancing with Allari Naresh.

Unable to block 28 accounts, technical difficulties: Twitter to Govt

New Delhi: Twitter has told the government that it needs more time to block 28 accounts, which have allegedly tweeted communally sensitive or inflammatory remarks and photos.

 
The micro-blogging site has written to the Department of Information and Technology to state that it's having technical difficulties in disabling these accounts.




The Ministry of Home Affairs has warned of serious consequences if its orders are not followed. Twitter has around 16 million accounts in India 






Earlier this month, doctored photos and videos were circulated to falsely depict atrocities against Muslims in Myanmar and Assam. Images of people who died in natural disasters like earthquakes were represented as victims of ethnic violence. The campaign urged reprisal.  Text messages sent to migrants from the North East in cities like Bangalore and Pune saw thousands of people boarding special trains to their homes and families.
  
Twitter has also been asked to block six accounts that masquerade as the official account of the Prime Minister's Office.

"Twitter has agreed to block the six fake PM accounts. They responded to our complaint saying we need to follow an internal channel to lodge a formal complaint in the matter," the prime minister's communications adviser, Pankaj Pachauri, told IANS.

"We have forwarded their communication to the ministry of communications and IT for necessary action," Mr Pachauri said.  "We had earlier complained through email to the six fake twitter accounts individually," he added.  

In January this year, Twitter had  announced its ability to block content in a  country but making it available in other parts of the world.  It had also stressed that "if and when we are required to withhold a tweet in a specific country, we will attempt to let the user know, and we will clearly mark when the content has been withheld." 

Internet giants like Facebook and Google have been fighting criminal and civil charges in Delhi courts where they have been accused of allowing content that provokes communal hatred.  The government has said that often, social networking sites are too slow to respond to requests asking for offensive material to be deleted.
